CHA RECEIVES $1 MILLION GRANT FOR NEW SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY CENTER

What's the best way to get people to think about the world around them and about living sustainably? Show them why it's important and how it will benefit them. That's what CHA is doing with its new Science & Technology Center, now under construction, which is being designed to serve as a role model and teacher. A recent $1 million grant from a private family foundation will support CHA's goal of creating a LEED-certified learning facility that is a living demonstration of environmental sustainability.

The CHA MATHCOUNTS team of George Kunkel, Nick McNiff, Matt Trejo, and G Andrews came in FIRST PLACE at the Philadelphia competition! This is the first time CHA has ever finished on top. In addition to the team success, individually George Kunkel came in first place and Nick McNiff in seventh place. The team now moves on to the state competition held in Harrisburg next month.

Chestnut Hill Academy is pleased to report its receipt of a $50,000 challenge grant from The Edward E. Ford Foundation to be matched $2 for $1 by May 31, 2008. The grant has been given in support of CHA's efforts to build a LEED-certified Science and Technology Center that will incorporate state-of-the-art teaching tools and environmentally sensitive systems as part of an innovative facility.
